These use ceramic discs instead of rubber washers so typically have a longer life.  Easier to operate with smaller range of turning required to open and close, so ideal for users with limited mobility.  To prolong the longevity of these it is recommended to install an inline gauze filter on the main water line into the house to prevent sediment and grit from damaging the fine ceramic discs.
